Dr. Deborah V Brazeal’s area of expertise is entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation. She is a noted author, speaker, and consultant on how companies develop and use a self-sustaining corporate culture to support a continuous stream of radical innovations. 

She has published over 50 articles in proceedings of national and international conferences, book chapters, and journal articles in top entrepreneurship journals such as the Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice, and Journal of Business Research.  Her article with Dr. Krueger entitled “Entrepreneurial Potential and Potential Entrepreneurs” is the third most cited article in Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice.  Dr. Brazeal has presented her findings at well over 50 national and international conferences and has received numerous awards for her papers.  

She has served as VP in various divisions of the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE) and on the editorial board of the esteemed journal, Entrepreneurship: Theory and Practice. Her most recent research endeavors explore the intersection of neuroplasticity, happiness, the power of adversity, and creative pursuits.

Dr. Brazeal’s practical entrepreneurial experience includes roles as V.P. and board member of Deep-Sea Research (DSR) and Transoceanic Research Group (TRG) where she prepared business plans and presentations to help secure investor funding for deep-sea operations. While Dr. Brazeal was V.P. of DSR, the company located California’s oldest shipwreck, Brother Jonathan.

Dr. Brazeal is currently the founder and President of “Radical Strategies,” a consulting company that provides creativity training and the development of innovative products and services to educational and corporate institutions. She is the author of a book entitled, “The New Business Paradigm,” a values-driven, empirically based business model that seeks to increase creativity and productivity while transforming the workplace. 

Dr. Brazeal received both her B.S. in Psychology and her Ph.D. in Business (concentration in Organizational Behavior and Entrepreneurship) from the University of Alabama. She graduated summa cum laude and was awarded the “Distinguished Undergraduate Scholar Award” for attaining the highest G.P.A. in the College of Arts and Sciences.  She is a Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi scholar.
